University of the Pacific seeks a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as its next Dean, Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy. This is a unique opportunity for a leader with a bold, broad perspective to join one of the original three schools of pharmacy in the state of California with a longstanding reputation for quality and innovation.

The Dean will work closely with the faculty, staff and administration in the school to provide a superior educational experience and excellent outcomes for our students in the pre-pharm program and graduate and professional programs. The next dean will lead efforts to ensure student success, critically important for retention and ultimately recruitment. Improved retention and a superior educational experience are also critically important for re-accreditation. Ensuring a successful accreditation outcome in two years is a major responsibility for the next dean.

The successful candidate must have a strong track record in supporting scholarship. Scholarship is one of the underpinnings of the excellence associated with Pacific's pharmacy school, both for its faculty and students. The dean should be creative and entrepreneurial to ensure that the pharmacy school has the resources and the flexibility to meet student and faculty needs and to connect with the community and business partners. The Dean will have student success and well-being as a high priority, and will be committed to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.

The incoming Dean will hold a doctoral degree in pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in a related field, and be eligible for appointment as a full professor. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional record as teacher, investigator and service leader with proven ability to manage a complex academic enterprise, typically obtained through experience as a dean, associate dean, department chair, or center/institute director within a college/school of pharmacy. Candidates should have demonstrated scholarly achievement of national recognition and have a broad understanding of complex issues of contemporary pharmacy practice in today's healthcare environment, with a bold vision for where pharmacy practice, research and education are headed.

The salary range for this position is $300-350K. University of the Pacific considers factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
