The Clarion University Presidential Search Committee is seeking a transformational leader with experience in expressing a passion for the mission of public education and inspiring teamwork who will continue to do so with our exceptionally qualified and committed faculty and staff. The new president must articulate Clarion’s values of providing relevant programs and practice-based learning experiences to fulfill the ever-changing needs of its students, its community and the 21st-century workplace. The new president will not only fundraise but “friendraise” so that the university’s many and broad-based constituents are joining together exemplifying our legacy of being a public institution that believes in the potential of every student.
Clarion’s next president will have the opportunity to lead a vibrant, teaching-focused, student-centered university towards successes in the 21st century. The successful candidate will have earned a terminal degree and possess a strong record of leadership as a senior administrator.
Founded in 1867, and now celebrating its 150th anniversary of providing exceptional educational opportunity for students, Clarion University specializes in preparing students for professional careers in fields including education, business, health and human services, and arts and sciences. Enrolling more than 5,200 students from 45 states and 16 countries, Clarion University’s diverse academic portfolio includes 97 certificate, associate, baccalaureate, master’s, and doctorate degree programs, 60 minors, and 16 teacher certification programs offered both online and on-ground across two state-of-the art campuses.
Clarion University is a proud member of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education. The president is the institution’s chief executive, reporting to the Board of Governors of the State System through the Chancellor. The President also works closely with the university's Council of Trustees regarding university policy and fiduciary matters.
