POSITION DETAILS

Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty-five campuses within the dynamic City University New York (CUNY) System. Named for the slain civil rights leader, Medgar Wiley Evers (1925-1963), the College's mission is to develop and maintain high quality, professional, career-oriented undergraduate degree programs in the context of liberal education.

Medgar Evers College (MEC) received a $10.8 million grant from New York City to enable MEC to establish a new School that would expand offerings in health-related majors. The new School was approved by the CUNY Board of Trustees in the Spring of 2022, under the name, the School of Science and Allied Health.

With MEC’s strong social justice mission, this newly established School of Science and Allied Health will be distinctive. Through the development of more high-demand healthcare degree programs, culturally inclusive occupational internships, and exceptionally strong mentoring, our bold commitment to healthcare equity will make this School of Science and Allied Health unique to CUNY, New York City, our various stakeholders, our medically underserved communities and health professional shortage areas, where our graduates will serve. Reporting to the Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will promote high quality teaching and academic programs, as well as grant funded research and service-related activities.

Responsibilities of the Dean include:
