Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia is seeking candidates for two new positions: a founding Director for Applied Technology and a founding Director for Data Visualization. The Applied Technology and Data Visualization director positions are for two new programs: one program in Applied Technology offering a Master’s Degree or a Graduate Certificate and the other program in Data Visualization offering a Graduate Certificate. Both programs will provide students with a foundational understanding of technology tools and methodologies and their application to companies and organizations.
Agnes Scott College is an independent national liberal arts college for women located in the metropolitan Atlanta area, affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The distinctive mission of Agnes Scott is to educate women for the betterment of their families and the elevation of their region. Today, that mission has evolved into a commitment to educate women from around the world to “think deeply, live honorably and engage the intellectual and social challenges of their times.”
The successful candidates will work together and with a faculty advisory group to administer and develop these new programs, hire instructors as needed, and teach up to four graduate courses each. Candidates must have a PhD or terminal degree in a related field such as computer science, education, engineering, mathematics, physics, statistics, etc. and demonstrated expertise in relevant technology, software, and experience in academic program administration. These are three-year, renewable positions (subject to performance) that is currently non-tenure track with the possibility to convert the position to tenure track pending the program’s success. Faculty appointments will be commensurate with experience and the field of the terminal degree will determine departmental affiliation.
