Dean, Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies

St. John's University , located in Queens, NY, seeks a student focused, entrepreneurial, and visionary leader to serve as Dean of The Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies (CCPS). Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, University Distinguished Professor, and Provost Endowed Chair , the Dean serves as the CCPS chief executive and intellectual leader.

The incoming Dean will be a champion of the College's mission; shape the vision, goals, and objectives for the College; generate resources in support of those priorities; and oversee the CCPS operations. This person will be a forward-thinking and strategic leader, equipped to build upon the solid foundation of the College's current strengths and shape a compelling and innovative vision for the College's future.

Founded in 1870 by the Congregation of the Mission (the Vincentians), St. John's University is proud to fulfill its mission by educating one of the most diverse student bodies in the United States. The University instills in its students not only the desire for knowledge and pursuit of academic excellence but also the compassion to serve others-especially those most in need-following the example of Jesus Christ after the manner of St. Vincent de Paul, 17th-century French Catholic priest and entrepreneurial reformer.

St. John's University offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate programs . It is comprised of six Schools and Colleges , including the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, The Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies, St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, The School of Education, and St. John's University School of Law.

Since its founding in 1952 as the Junior College of St. John's University, The Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies has evolved and grown significantly. It currently serves as a launchpad for innovators, entrepreneurs, and explorers-problem-solvers who want to change the world for the better. CCPS is now home to approximately 3,385 undergraduate students and 283 graduate students. It prepares students for careers in emerging professions as they graduate poised to tackle the challenges of today, tomorrow, and beyond. CCPS offers degrees at the doctoral, master's, bachelor's, and associate levels in a range of incredibly diverse disciplines from Computer Science and Criminal Justice to Fashion Studies and Homeland Security , Hospitality Management , Sport Management , and Television and Film , to name a few.

This is a unique opportunity for a forward-thinking leader who finds joy in transforming the lives of students through innovative and market-relevant professional programs and through the faithful commitment to instilling Vincentian values of compassion and service for others. The Dean must have significant and successful previous experience with program creation and innovation leading to enhanced enrollments and significantly increased tuition revenues. To this end, familiarity with the market in New York City and the surrounding region, while not a requirement, would be a decided advantage; successful experience in an urban educational environment is particularly important. Ideally, the Dean will have a track record of teaching and scholarship commensurate with such an appointment. At least five years of progressive academic and administrative experience at the level of dean, associate dean, department chair, or the equivalent are highly preferred. The salary range for this position is $250K to $300K.
