Ferris State University, in Big Rapids, Michigan, invites applications, nominations, and inquiries for the position of Dean of the Michigan College of Optometry (MCO) . The MCO seeks an experienced leader to serve as its chief executive and academic officer, responsible for maintaining and advancing the Doctor of Optometry professional degree program. The anticipated start date for this position is July of 2023.

Since its inception in 1975, MCO's program has expanded to include 19 faculty offering didactic, laboratory and clinical instruction to a total of 152 students annually. The program offers a curriculum comprising a mix of classroom, laboratory, on-site and off-site clinical experiences, which prepare students and optometric residents to practice full-scope optometric care. The college is a member of the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry and is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education.

Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean of MCO will plan, supervise, and coordinate all activity within the college, including but not limited to the preparation, implementation, and maintenance of grants and other college fundraising efforts; supervision of teaching, service, and research activities of faculty, staff, and students on the Big Rapids campus and all clinical locations; development and administration of academic policies and programs; review, approval, and administration of the college budget; maintenance of accreditation standards and supervision of ongoing reaffirmation of accreditation activities.
