Executive Writer

12 Month Salaried FT

SCAD seeks an extraordinary executive writer to join its team full-time in historic Savannah, Ga.

In this position, you will lend your expertise to communication needs leading up to and during events, including remarks, op-eds and other bylines, interview responses for publications, talking points, quotes, and more for the university's president. You will conduct research to inform a variety of topics and assignments related to SCAD (e.g., its history, programs; trends in art, design, and higher education; etc.) and collaborate with creative direction to ensure visuals match remarks. You will attend rehearsals, facilitate presentations during events - which may require occasional travel - and prepare documents to ensure the president is well-versed on all events, occasions, and interactions. As an executive writer, you will also contribute to other projects as well, from books and catalogs to the President's Report and more as the need arises.

The successful candidate has an eagle eye for detail, able to proofread and edit with both speed and accuracy. A creative chameleon, the candidate should be able to capture the voice of the SCAD president quickly and has a positive, enthusiastic approach to feedback. Demonstrated success in imaginative storytelling, strategic thinking, fact-checking, and research is paramount as is the ability to remain highly organized. The candidate must have strong time management skills and the flexibility to manage multiple concurrent, urgent projects. The candidate should also be a spectacular communicator with equally exceptional interpersonal skills and uses these talents to develop positive relationships with subject matter experts across the university. The ability to thrive in a tremendously fast-paced environment is essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
• Professional experience writing/ghostwriting for publications and outlets and/or for the highest executives in an organization
• Working knowledge of higher education and the creative disciplines taught at SCAD
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Word

Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
