Research&Instruction Librarian

12 Month Salaried Staff FT

As a full-time research and instruction librarian, you will plan and lead library instruction for undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of formats, including outreach programs, in-person and virtual communication, and collaboration with faculty and staff. You will create and maintain online research guides, tutorials, and other instructional resources; identify, evaluate, and apply current and emerging technology; and participate in library and university committees as applicable. Among other duties, you will also help with team-based collection development and evaluation of current and potential library resources.

The successful candidate is a motivated self-starter with spectacular interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal) who is also comfortable adopting new technologies. Advanced knowledge of the library field, emerging technologies in reference and instructional services, and art and design subject areas is also paramount. The ability to create compelling visual media using Adobe Creative Suite or related software is a welcomed bonus.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • M.L.S. or M.L.I.S. degree from an ALA-accredited institution
  • Education or significant research experience in one or more subjects offered at SCAD
  • Fluency with standard librarian software and tools (e.g., LibGuides/Springshare suite, Sierra or other ILS, online discovery applications, social media, etc.)

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (preferred)

Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a..m to 5:30 p.m. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
