FACULTY POSITION IN OPERA AND VOICE

POSITION
Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Practice rank, non-tenure track, full-time, 9-month appointment.. Attractive

DESCRIPTION:
The NAU Kitt School of Music seeks a dynamic, creative, collaborative, and dedicated teacher of opera and voice.
Responsibilities would include directing opera/lyric theater, teaching private voice lessons, weekly voice studio
class, and other duties in the candidate’s field of expertise

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Lecturer
 MM or MA in voice or directing or related field.
 Two years' experience in opera or musical theater direction

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – Assistant Professor of Practice
 Doctorate in voice or related field, or MFA in directing, or equivalent professional experience.
 Two years' experience in opera or musical theater direction

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 Mezzo-soprano
 Experience directing opera at the collegiate level or in professional settings.
 Experience teaching voice at the collegiate level
 Commitment to working effectively with NAU’s diverse faculty, staff, and student populations

THE INSTITUTION:
The School of Music at Northern Arizona University continues a proud tradition of training the next generation of
music teachers, performers, and scholars for the State of Arizona and the Southwestern U.S. Students pursue degrees
in music education, performance, choral conducting, instrumental conducting, music theory and composition,
musicology, Suzuki violin, and piano accompanying and chamber music.

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an

SALARY:
Commensurate with academic qualifications and relevant experience.
