The University of Illinois Springfield seeks an inclusive, student-centered, collaborative leader to serve as its inaugural Dean of the College of Health, Science and Technology. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, visionary leader to play a pivotal role in advancing a compelling vision for a newly formed college that integrates the sciences and health professions while capitalizing on interdisciplinary program and research opportunities across the university.

The College of Health, Science and Technology (CHST) includes the following units: Department of Computer Science; Department of Mathematical Sciences and Philosophy; Department of Psychology; School of Health Sciences (athletic training, exercise training, medical laboratory science) and the School of Integrated Sciences, Sustainability and Public Health (biology, chemistry, environmental studies, public health). CHST delivers 11 baccalaureate programs and 4 masters programs.

The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) is one of three universities in the world-class University of Illinois System. Its talented faculty are leaders in their areas of study and teach all courses at UIS. Students take advantage of leading-edge leadership opportunities not found at other universities, which allows them to shape their college experience and positions them ahead of peers outside UIS for career opportunities and further scholarship.

The Dean of CHST will be responsible for driving academic innovation, leading with strategic purpose, and advocating for the mission and success of the college. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Provost, the Dean will work collaboratively across the university to explore and implement strategies that strengthen UIS's mission, programs, research profile, and ability to serve students. The Dean represents the college and UIS in community, corporate and professional organizations, and agencies.

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent in a discipline related to the mission of CHST and academic credentials that merit appointment as a full professor. UIS seeks in its inaugural Dean a visionary, engaged, and collaborative leader with a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and student success. Desired competencies include successful leadership experience in managing an academic unit with strength in budgeting and finance, curriculum review and implementation, fundraising, and the ability to build strong and productive relationships both internally and externally. An ideal candidate would have experience implementing best practices to boost retention and to close equity gaps and will be committed to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the college.
