The Application & Information Services (AIS) Group is responsible for planning, acquiring, developing, and maintaining the university's core business and student support systems.

AIS is currently seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst. This position will review, analyze, support, and evaluate information systems, processes and client needs; perform and participate in the analysis, design and implementation of systems following appropriate standards and requirement gathering; conduct tests or test planning sessions; provide input for feasibility and prepare user/technical documentation; evaluate information gathered from multiple sources; reconcile conflicts; decompose high-level information into details; interpret low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs. Translate business and user requests involving enhancements and improvement initiatives to software systems into business requirement specification documents. Design the solution, coordinate completion/development of the solution, and ensure delivery of tested solution to the user. May manage small projects. Accomplish all work within established methodologies and standards.

Job Description

Primary responsibilities of the Business Systems Analyst, Sr. include:
  • Consult with clients to understand and document business needs.
  • Translate business needs into requirements, processes and technical specifications.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Collaborate with Architects and Software Developers to create and maintain applications and integrations.
  • Apply quality assurance techniques to ensure integrity of solutions.
  • Analyze data and draw appropriate conclusions.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for solutions including mission critical, highly available solutions requiring on call support outside of standard business hours.
  • Provide training for clients and ISC colleagues.
  • Accomplish work using established methodologies and standards.
  • May manage small projects.
  • May have limited supervisory responsibility for staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of experience, including business analyst and project management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated expertise in process redesign, systems analysis and design and the ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies
Required Skills:
  • Experience eliciting business needs from clients and transforming into requirements.
  • Experience transforming requirements into custom software designs and/or vendor supplied solutions; knowledge of iterative software development, including frequent software deliveries. Familiarity with agile software development/deployment practices and related methodologies.
  • Experience working with databases and strong SQL skills. Ability to review data, identify patterns and draw conclusions. Ability to deconstruct PL/SQL and other legacy code artifacts.
  • Experience with the variety of integration challenges presented in a best of breed application environment that includes a mix of custom built, 3rd party applications operating on premises and cloud SaaS applications.
  • Experience executing all levels of testing (Unit, System, Integration, Regression.)
  • Experience working on mission critical, highly available solutions.
  • Must be a high performing self-starter who can prioritize, organize and complete multiple concurrent work assignments on schedule and with expected level of quality.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
