Associate Dean and Clinical Faculty (rank TBD), Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies

Against a backdrop of innovation and momentum and a deep commitment to building a globally recognized and academically rigorous program committed to access, the NYU School of Professional Studies seeks an academic and administrative leader for its Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS).

NYU’s School of Professional Studies is a diverse, dynamic, and global school currently offering credit and non-credit courses at the undergraduate and graduate level for students seeking relevant, up-to-the minute instruction in their chosen fields of study. From its early years training returning World War II veterans to fulfill the nation’s urgent need for skilled technical workers, it has evolved into a professional education powerhouse that offers 20 graduate degrees, 13 bachelor’s degrees, four associate degrees, and a plethora of non-degree courses and credentials.

Housed within the School of Professional Studies, the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies has been the University’s arm serving nontraditional undergraduate degreeā€completion students. The academic programming combines a rigorous liberal arts education with a practical professional orientation that focuses on student success and industry partnerships. Small class sizes, flexible modes of delivery, and support resources create an encouraging environment in which students from a broad range of educational backgrounds can thrive. The Division provides these highly motivated students with the education they need to take the next step in their academic and professional lives.

Reporting to the Dean of NYU’s School of Professional Studies, the Associate Dean and Clinical Faculty (rank TBD) will be the lead at SPS for nontraditional undergraduate degree programs (14 total) with a teaching staff of 10 full-time faculty and approximately 170 adjunct faculty. The successful candidate will have a vision for the expansion and integration of in-person and online degree offerings that provide access and skills to nontraditional, degree-seeking students. They will be committed to student success and faculty development and will lead the faculty in ensuring rigorous curricula rooted in strong pedagogy. They will also provide administrative oversight and manage a staff of dedicated professionals while working collaboratively with other units across NYU. The Associate Dean will lead faculty and staff in advancing the access mission of the Division and in fostering career connected learning through industry partnerships. In the process, the Associate Dean will enhance and amplify the identity and reputation of the unit. The Associate Dean will benefit from the collegial support and complementary academic expertise of the other units across the School and the University and will draw on the worldwide resources of NYU’s global network to carry out a vision for the Division that succeeds in increasing its profile and visibility nationally and internationally.

The successful candidate will be a committed educator with evidence of significant contributions in a higher education environment. The Associate Dean will show evidence of conceiving academically sound and timely programs (both in person and online) for rapidly evolving disciplines, ideally in the context of nontraditional access programs. They will demonstrate innovation, entrepreneurship, and the ability to conceive of and implement an exciting vision, in collaboration with others, that places DAUS at the forefront of nontraditional education globally. They will have a demonstrated track-record in building industry partnerships and launching programs that emphasize experiential learning, workforce readiness, and skill credentialing.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role includes both a base faculty salary of $115,000-185,000 as well as an administrative stipend of $165,000 - $235,000. NYU offers a generous benefits package.
