FOUNDING DIRECTOR, CENTER FOR HEALTH EQUITY
AND PROFESSOR OF EPIDEMIOLOGY
The Georgia State University School of Public Health seeks an exceptional leader and public health advocate to serve as the founding director of the Center for Health Equity. In addition to its interdisciplinary and applied research focus, the center will play a pivotal role in the school's ongoing efforts to prepare public health leaders committed to advancing health equity.
Working in partnership with the dean, department chairs, and faculty, the founding director will articulate and operationalize a vision for the center as a model of excellence in health equity research. The director will provide leadership and strategic oversight of the center, including the development of focus areas such as urban health, infectious disease, non-communicable diseases, global health burdens, social determinants of health, environment and climate, and/or measurement and statistics, among others.
The ideal candidate will have methodological expertise in social epidemiology. Candidates with substantive knowledge of environmental epidemiology, infectious disease epidemiology, or chronic disease epidemiology are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will merit an appointment at the rank of professor with tenure in the Department of Population Health Sciences. An established research program, including a strong record of sustained research funding with a focus on health equity, reducing health disparities, and/or vulnerable populations, is expected.
