The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Professor specializing in Algebra or Related Areas, Department of Mathematical Sciences, College of Sciences [R0133276].

ROLE of the POSITION

The successful tenure-track Assistant Professor is expected to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, publish in refereed research journals, pursue external funding, and supervise graduate students. In addition, the candidate is expected to provide service to the department, college, university, and the profession. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring students from different backgrounds with diverse life experiences and learning styles.

This position commences Fall 2023.

PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT

The Department of Mathematical Sciences currently has 30 regular faculty members and over 50 graduate students. It offers BA, BS, MS and PhD degrees in Mathematical Sciences. The Department is part of the College of Sciences, which also include the departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Physics and Astronomy, Geoscience, and Life Sciences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences with demonstrated expertise in Algebra from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate commitment to excellence in both teaching and scholarly activities.

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
