Chemistry and Biochemistry Faculty

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the School of Science, Engineering and Health at Messiah College invites applications for the position of Two-Year Visiting Assistant Professor (Faculty).

 

Responsibilities: The primary teaching responsibilities for this position will be in first-year chemistry courses and in another area of the candidate’s expertise. The candidate may also have the opportunity to teach environmental chemistry in the second year. The department welcomes candidates who desire to mentor undergraduate research students during the duration of this temporary position. Both space and resources are available for mentored research.

 

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related discipline is preferred, with preference for a background in bioanalytical, organic or physical chemistry. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in college teaching is a requirement. A desire to engage students in mentored research is a plus. The successful candidate must be committed to best educational practices as applied to undergraduate science education and the integration of Christian faith and learning.

 

The Program: Approved by the American Chemical Society, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in Biochemistry and Chemistry, including those with ACS Certification. Pennsylvania teaching Certification can also be awarded. Within a very collaborative environment, the department prepares students very well for graduate work in all areas of chemistry, for medical school and other allied health programs, as well as for immediate employment in industry, government or education.

 

The Department: The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is committed to academic excellence, within the context of Christian faith. There are currently 6 full-time faculty in the department, as well as a full-time laboratory manager. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is one of seven departments within the School of Science, Engineering and Health.

Compensation: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
