About the Albert Nerken School of Engineering:  One of the nation’s premiere undergraduate engineering schools, the Albert Nerken School of Engineering comprises seven departments and offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering and a bachelor of science degree. Approximately 500 undergraduate and 50 graduate students are enrolled in engineering and, since September 2009, have been housed in a new state-of-the-art academic building, designed by Pritzker Prize winning architect, Thom Mayne. The building is part of Cooper Union’s historic urban campus in Manhattan and brings together the faculties of art, architecture, engineering, humanities, and social sciences.  The engineering faculty maintains a vigorous and dynamic research agenda. Current interests span nanotechnology, robotics, advanced signal processing, high capacity wireless communications, sustainable design, renewable energy systems, alternative fuels, and a broad spectrum of topics in biomedical engineering, including neuroscience, tissue and regenerative engineering, biomechanics, sports medicine, orthopedic devices, and artificial organs. The faculty are dedicated to student success and are committed to innovative pedagogy, teaching effectiveness, and mentoring.  For additional information, please visit www.cooper.edu/engineering.
