DIRECTOR

NEW JERSEY INSTITUTE FOR FOOD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH

The New Jersey Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health (IFNH) at Rutgers University announces an international search for a new Director.  Reporting to the Executive Dean of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the IFNH Director is the chief executive officer of the Institute whose core purpose is to unite faculty, staff, and students from across the University to address societal issues focused on health and well-being.

In the first phase of the Institute’s growth, the University funded and completed construction of an award-winning interdisciplinary, open-concept research facility, created an enabling infrastructure including administrative support, planned and initiated hiring of new faculty, secured a $10 million Endowed Research Fund, and assembled a strong portfolio of grant and contract support for research and community engagement.

Looking forward, the next Director will expand its Centers and Programs, recruit additional faculty, launch emergent programs that leverage the interdisciplinary and translational strengths of the University, expand its scientific partnership portfolio, and enlarge its donor base with the goals of growing the Endowed Research Fund and creating Endowed Faculty Chairs.

The Director will be a highly distinguished scientist with a strong record of scholarship combined with proven leadership in a field pertinent to the Institute’s mission.  It is anticipated that the Director will merit a faculty appointment with tenure in an appropriate academic department, which could be in any unit of the University.  The selected individual will also be a visionary leader who will inspire faculty, staff and students to build the Institute’s excellence in science and scholarship, further its engagement in community outreach and service, and amplify its accomplishments in building strategic partnerships and mobilizing financial support.  The new Director will passionately advance inclusiveness and diversity, core values of Rutgers University.

While nominations and applications will be accepted until a new Director is selected, interested parties are encouraged to send their materials to the address below by April 1 to assure optimal consideration.  Application materials should include a current resume and a letter of interest.
