The Department of Management & Organizations (MNO) in the Cox School of Business at SMU is seeking to hire for a non-tenure track Professor of Practice position # 54062 in the area of organizational behavior with an August 2023 start. This position will teach courses in both Management and Organizations and Business Leadership/Communication.  Thought leadership, a charismatic persona, an innovative spirit, and a broad-ranging repertoire that provides for high quality teaching is essential. The candidate selected will be strongly involved in providing undergraduate students stellar preparation and mentorship within and outside the classroom in order for them to perform at a high level in the workplace, leveraging diversity, workplace leadership, and managerial problem solving. Minimum qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in management or a related field by the start of employment; expertise to teach courses in management and leadership/business communication.

 

Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated potential to teach undergraduate courses in management, business leadership, and business communications. Interest in making significant contributions to the strategic delivery of undergraduate curriculum as well as its extracurricular program components (i.e., honors practicum, applied experiential learning, orientation, outside speakers, internships, and placement opportunities) is desired.

 

A proven track record of teaching undergraduate business classes is also preferred. This position has the opportunity to not only teach in MNO department, but also other teaching opportunities (such as Business Leadership and Communication) as opportunities arise that are deemed a good fit for the candidate. Work experience in the field of management that allows for practical application of class material is highly preferred.  Strong connections to SMU, the alumni, and Dallas business leaders is preferred as a way to bring in content to the classroom. A BBA and MBA degree are also desired as a way to provide additional experience and teaching of business concepts.
