FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Social Work at the College of Staten Island, of the City University of New York, invites applications for a full-time non tenure-track Doctoral Lecturer position in Social Work beginning January 2023. The successful candidate is eligible for a Certificate of Continuous Employment after five years of successful employment. Responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development, advisement, and service to the department and college. This position is subject to funding approval.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

A doctorate in Social Work or a closely related field, an MSW from a CSWE accredited program, three years of post MSW social work practice experience, and an interest in undergraduate teaching, curriculum development and accreditation are required. We are seeking applicants who can teach at the undergraduate and occasionally at the graduate level, who hold (or are eligible to hold) a clinical social work license (LCSW) in the State of New York. DSW or PhD is preferred; holding (or being eligible to hold) a clinical social work license (LCSW) in the State of New York is strongly preferred. The ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate students successfully and an interest in mentoring students is preferred.

 

We seek applicants who specialize in the area of disability studies and social work. Disability is broadly defined to include brain injury, chronic health, cognitive, developmental, intellectual, neurological, psychiatric, physical, sensory, SUD, and other impairments. The specific area of disability studies is open, yet should have clear links to direct social work practice.
