Information Systems & Analytics: Assistant Teaching Professor/Lecturer

Information Systems & Analytics: Assistant Teaching Professor/Lecturer position will teach multiple sections of BUS 104: Introduction to Computational Thinking for Business and provide service to students, the institution, and the discipline. BUS 104: Introduction to Computational Thinking for Business is part of the required First-Year Integrated Core (FYIC) curriculum for all Farmer School of Business majors. The FYIC is an innovative four-course bundle that teaches students key skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking, computational thinking & coding, ethical thinking, communication, and collaboration. Service responsibilities undertaken by faculty in the FYIC and their home department could include developing and facilitating programmatic integration and enhanced programmatic efficacy; developing and maintaining teaching materials and resources shared by the FYIC and department; and/or providing support for one or more of the following: Visiting faculty teaching in the FYIC or Department, assessment of FYIC and other courses, e-learning, and career opportunities for students. 

Required: Master’s degree in Information Systems for rank of Assistant Lecturer by date of appointment or doctorate for rank of Assistant Teaching Professor in Information Systems or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Candidates must have related teaching experience, with demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a fulltime and indefinite basis.

Consideration may be given to candidates with experience teaching logical thinking as an approach to problem solving through introductory programming logic concepts especially to business students and those with prior course or curriculum leadership responsibilities. Consideration may also be given to candidates with multiple years of experience engaging with clients from a variety of industries, organizations, and/or disciplines; experience teaching professional skills (e.g. teamwork, project management, technical writing, reproducibility, coding, verbal and written communication) to students and/or colleagues; commitment to pedagogic innovation; demonstrated enthusiasm for undertaking student-centered service responsibilities such as academic and extracurricular advising; experience leading a group of faculty and working collaboratively with other leaders; and / or demonstrated enthusiasm for undertaking programmatic or departmental service responsibilities.
