The University of Louisville announces a nationwide search to recruit a new Dean for the College of Arts & Sciences. Comprised of over 8,000 students and close to 500 full-time faculty and staff across 23 diverse academic departments, the College of Arts and Sciences has the distinction of being the largest and most disciplinarily diverse unit on campus. The College strives to leverage those resources to be recognized as an innovative leader in Arts and Sciences education and research. The college prioritizes preparing students to be critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, effective communicators, and engaged citizens.

The College seeks an experienced administrator with innovative approaches for pursuing the goal of a fully diverse and inclusive educational environment. The ideal candidate will have a track record of effective collaborative leadership across faculty, student, administrative, and community groups; a deep commitment to promoting high-quality teaching and scholarship; and ideas for creative fundraising strategies in support of the College’s varied educational and scholarly investments. Academic qualifications commensurate with appointment as a tenured professor in one of the College’s disciplines is required.

The Dean reports to the Executive Vice President and Provost and is the chief academic and administrative officer of the College of Arts and Sciences. The Dean serves as the chief advocate for the College and its faculty, in close collaboration with chairs and other academic program directors, to promote faculty and program development, innovation in the curriculum, diversity, equity and inclusion, fiscal planning and fund raising.
