The University of South Carolina invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of its Darla Moore School of Business. This leader will succeed Dr. Peter Brews, who has served in this role with distinction since 2014.

Founded in 1919, the Darla Moore School of Business (DMSB) has a history of innovative educational leadership, blending academic preparation with real-world experience through internships, consulting projects, study abroad programs and entrepreneurial opportunities. The DMSB has grown into a thriving site of academic excellence with an enrollment of 5,300 undergraduate students and more than 1,000 graduate/doctoral students. The DMSB offers a wide range of programs in nine undergraduate concentrations, seven master's degree and two Ph.D. degrees as well as executive education programs and consulting services to the business community.

The Darla Moore School of Business has provided an outstanding business education to students who have gone on to become leaders in every business sector. Known worldwide for its top-ranked programs in international business, the DMSB also boasts top 10-ranked supply chain programs and is home to a world-class faculty and 12 major research centers. The DMSB is committed to educating leaders in global business and to playing a central role in the economic growth of the state by bringing the world to South Carolina and South Carolina to the world.

In 1998, the DMSB was named for South Carolina native Darla Moore, making the University of South Carolina the first major university to name its business school after a woman.

This position offers a unique opportunity for a talented and committed individual to lead a well-established and dynamic unit of the university. The Dean is responsible for providing academic, strategic, and administrative leadership for the DMSB, for articulating a vision for business education, and for enhancing the strong relationships that exist between the DMSB with their alumni and the regional, national, and international business communities.

The Dean is expected to have: (1) a thorough understanding of both the challenges and the opportunities facing business education; (2) the ability to recruit, retain, and develop excellent and diverse faculty, students and staff; (3) strong, financial, managerial and administrative skills; (4) the ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and lead a wide range of stakeholders; (5) an understanding of the global dimensions of business education; (6) appreciation for - and commitment to - the missions of teaching and research and (6) the ability to achieve success in both public relations and fund raising. The successful candidate will have a record of leadership experiences that can provide the foundation for prominence in an academic setting. Candidates should ideally have a doctoral degree (or its equivalent) and possess the qualifications - gained through academic or relevant industry endeavors - to receive a tenured appointment as Professor.
