Assistant Professor of Saxophone and Director of Jazz Studies

Position Details
This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.

The Assistant Professor for Saxophone and Director of the Jazz Studies program will teach studio saxophone at the undergraduate, graduate and artist diploma levels, maintaining a high-quality saxophone studio through teaching and performing. In addition to the studio, they will direct the Jazz Studies program and conduct Jazz Ensemble I. They will continue/expand professional performance to achieve national and international visibility. Additional responsibilities could include teaching secondary areas according to the needs of the School as defined by the Director of the School of Music and participating in departmental activities, including solo and collaborative performing, and other activities appropriate for a faculty member at a major research university.

An earned doctorate at the time of appointment is preferred, though equivalent professional experience will be considered. Master’s degree is required. Candidates must demonstrate high-level performing ability and promise for national and international recognition as a performer, teacher, and conductor.
