Inspired by the Wright brothers but designed for the world, the groundwork for Wright State University was laid over 50 years ago when Dayton emerged as a technology center and demonstrated a critical need for an increasingly educated work force and research enterprise. In 1967, with 5,704 students, Wright State achieved its status as an accredited independent university. Today, it serves over 11,000 students and offers more than 315 undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and professional degree programs through five colleges and two schools. The university is nationally recognized for the unprecedented support it gives to students with disabilities, as well as to veteran and military-connected students. At Wright State, first-generation college students, high school valedictorians, and adult learners alike all find the support they need to achieve their dreams.
