Professor of Performing Arts, Musical Theater

SCAD Savannah seeks a full-time performing arts professor to join a dedicated performing arts department and help students develop skills in a creative environment with emphasis on professional training for careers in film, television and theater. In addition to leading a variety of courses, you will demonstrate model leadership, foster a positive learning environment, fulfill departmental duties and contribute to the university’s mission and strategic goals.

Performing arts students receive focused instruction paired with opportunities in real-world projects, including stage productions, SCAD films, a TV sitcom and in-house series, dance concerts, original works, new interpretations of classical and modern plays, musicals and improv performances as well as senior projects and M.F.A. thesis shows.

The SCAD Casting Office - the only on-site, professionally run casting office in higher education - connects SCAD actors to productions in Georgia’s powerhouse film and television industry as well as in the New York and Los Angeles markets. Through star-studded events such as the Savannah Film Festival and SCAD aTVfest, the university prepares students for thriving careers in performing arts.

The ideal candidate has experience directing musical theater at the professional level and the ability to instruct undergraduate students in the fundamentals of musical theater performance. Industry connections and experience as an acting teacher at all levels are preferred.

Requirements:
⎯ Terminal degree (typically an M.F.A.) in theater, performing arts or related field; May consider professional experience in lieu of a terminal degree

Minimum Qualifications:

- Terminal degree in related discipline.
- Teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.
- Experience or knowledge of related industries.
- Ability to be credentialed through SACS guidelines or justified to teach.
