Global Librarian

SCAD Savannah seeks an experienced global librarian to support the academic and creative needs of its remarkable students.

In this role, you will provide research services and innovative library instruction to students studying at SCAD Lacoste and those enrolled in SCADnow online learning through virtual meetings. As a global librarian, you will identify, evaluate, and apply current and emerging technologies; plan and contribute to outreach programs that connect students to relevant resources, skills, and information literacy goals; and evaluate current and potential library services. You will develop an in-depth knowledge of the library resources and services available at all SCAD locations and remain dedicated to both current and emerging practices in teaching, learning, and using instructional technology. With a focus on excellent customer service and thorough, accurate information, you will also form beneficial partnerships across the SCAD community to promote library resources, contribute to all aspects of customized library service delivery, and serve as a resource for faculty, staff, and students.

The successful candidate is a motivated self-starter who thrives as an independent contributor. Spectacular written and verbal communication skills are essential, and the candidate should also be comfortable adopting new technologies. Advanced knowledge of the library field, emerging technologies in reference and instructional services, and art and design subject areas is also paramount. The ability to create compelling visual media using Adobe Creative Suite or related software is a welcomed bonus.

Minimum Qualifications:

• M.L.S. degree from an ALA-accredited institution

• Two to four years of professional experience, preferably working collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff in an academic library

• Fluent with standard librarian tools such as LibGuides/Springshare suite, Sierra or other ILS, social media, Microsoft Office, etc.

• Undergraduate degree in a discipline taught at SCAD preferred

Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
