Job Overview
Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the Associate Director of Admissions, Recruitment & Outreach will provide critical strategic leadership for domestic first-year recruitment in our national and regional markets, which includes more than 30,000 applicants and cultivation of over 185,000 prospects. In collaboration with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, this position will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive recruitment plan that is informed by institutional enrollment priorities and market-driven strategies. This position will be housed at UC's Uptown campus but will have influence in multi-campus recruitment efforts for domestic first-year recruitment.

The Associate Director serves as a member of the Undergraduate Admissions leadership team and will directly supervise three (3) Assistant Directors of Admissions, indirectly supervise eleven (11) admissions recruiters, two (2) graduate assistants and over 30+ undergraduate student workers. This role will also have a strong focus on customer service and building the experience for recruitment to highlight university of Cincinnati and including providing best practices and guidance to college admissions staff for recruitment. The Associate Director will actively contribute to the office environment of collaboration and encouragement of staff to take on responsibility as well as support staff in the generation of new and innovative ideas.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge and understanding of market trends and best practices in student recruitment as well as familiarity with diverse student population and their needs, ideally in an urban setting. The candidate will be able to incorporate data-driven decision-making and personalized recruitment efforts, which include communication strategies, off-campus events, campus and community partnerships, and building and maintaining successful relationships with high school counselors. The ideal candidate in this role will have the ability to foster collaborative efforts and partnership building with internal and external constituents.

This position will offer flexibility for a hybrid remote work option for applicants with a residence within the Cincinnati Tri-State Area. The hybrid arrangement is 60% in office, 40% remote. Hybrid remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the direction of an admissions office or center with primary responsibilities for day to day operations and administrative management in which decisions and quality of execution have significant impact on internal and external relations.
  • Develop long-range plans and strategies to achieve unit, departmental and university goals for areas of responsibility, monitors and achieves established goals.
  • Recommend, implement, and interpret internal rules, policies, procedures, controls, and manage processes to advance service levels; develop and implement responsive service programs.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the Director; consults with Director on major policy changes affecting other departments; authority to grant exceptions; may function as the Director in his/her absence, as required.
  • Develop, implement and monitor assigned budgets; authority for function budget, revenue, and expense planning and approving expenditure; delegated signature authority for programs or functions within department or center.
  • Monitor and coordinate staff development and training programs.
  • Compile data required for internal and external reports and assessments; interpret and disseminate information, provide advice, assist in development of advising materials, deliver presentations, ensure that all programs and services comply with university, state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with departments/units regarding efforts that enrich the student experience.
  • Maintain and stay abreast of trends in student recruitment and retentions and academic programs requirements.
  • Serve on various university, division and departmental committees, represent the department at various state and national associations.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education
Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  • Five (5) years of experience in admissions.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Some positions may require specialized experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Master's Degree.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Slate (CRM) and other available technology to drive recruitment efforts and monitor results.
  • Demonstrated experience of the admissions process including recruitment/yield strategies, territory management, and facilitation of high school counselor and/or community-based partnerships.
