UMass Dartmouth, a thriving public research university and critical engine of social mobility located on Massachusetts’ Southcoast, invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Student Engagement (AVC). Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and serving as a member of the Division’s leadership team, the AVC will advance the University's educational mission by leading a team of professional staff who plan, implement, and administer programs and services that enhance the quality of the student experience and campus life. The AVC will be responsible for setting student life policies, budget management of departments, and the supervision and evaluation of professional staff, and provide strategic direction on policies, programs, and responses related to a broad range of student life issues. They will respond to crisis situations and student and family concerns.

Roughly two-thirds of UMass Dartmouth’s undergraduate students reside on campus.
The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in a relevant field and will also encourage collaboration and communication among all of these expert and talented staff members to ensure that robust, holistic, and equitable systems are developed and implemented across the division and for all students.
