The University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) invites nominations and applications for the position of Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Reporting to Chancellor Kristin Sobolik, the Provost and VCAA has broad authority and responsibility for oversight of all aspects of the academic endeavors of the university, and serves as the hub of faculty and student engagement in all aspects our great university that is on the rise.

 

The academic mission is central to the university and as the chief academic officer, the Provost and VCAA serves a pivotal role within the university’s administration. The Provost and VCAA will work closely with the university cabinet, academic deans, and our great faculty, staff and students to develop, implement and promote goals in the areas of research, educational and scholarship, as well as provide leadership to ensure excellence in the university’s academic mission.

 

In addition, the Provost and VCAA will be responsible for all aspects of professional and academic accreditation, allocation of teaching and research facilities, faculty development and academic personnel. Collaboration will be key in each area as the provost will collaborate with other vice chancellors for financial stability and growth, research and economic development, crucial enrollment growth, inclusive prosperity, and philanthropic activity as UMSL readies for a comprehensive campaign.

 

UMSL’s next Provost and VCAA will have an extraordinary opportunity to implement change and lead the campus on a continued trajectory of excellence and innovation. This individual will be expected to focus on the following priorities: Community Engagement, Serving Diverse, First-Generation Students, Faculty Development, Enrollment Management and Program Development, Increasing Research Productivity, and Enhancing UMSL’s Reputation Nationally.
