Hope College invites applications for a tenure-track position in experimental physics at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to begin in August 2023. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program in an area of experimental physics with undergraduate students. Preferred candidates will engage in research that can make use of existing on-campus resources (NEC 1.7 MV tandem Van de Graaff particle accelerator, Bruker Dimension Icon atomic force microscope, or JSM-IT700HR field emission scanning electron microscope) though applications from all areas of experimental physics are welcome. Startup funds and internal resources are available to support new research efforts. A successful candidate will demonstrate a broad understanding of physics so that the candidate can teach all levels of physics courses and laboratories. Review of completed applications will be done as they are received. An initial subset of candidates will be asked to be available for a video interview. Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience (research or teaching) in an area of experimental physics.
  • Potential to be an excellent instructor.
  • Ability to build an active experimental research program involving undergraduate students.
  • This position is eligible for H1B sponsorship.
