ANCIENT PHILOSOPHY POSITION

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track or tenured position in ancient Greek or Roman philosophy, to begin August 29, 2023. This is a university year appointment, with the level of rank being open. We seek a scholar who will be able to play an active role in the Program in Ancient Philosophy, and who has a strong commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service.

Materials should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy and experience, teaching evaluations and other evidence of teaching excellence, and a statement of current and future research plans. Additionally, please include a statement that addresses your commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through scholarship/research, and/or teaching/mentoring, and/or service/engagement. There may be some overlap with your research proposal and teaching statements (1-3 pages each).

 

Junior applicants should in addition include a sample of written work and arrange for the submission of at least three letters of recommendation. Senior applicants should include in the curriculum vitae a list of references, who will be contacted only for finalists.
