The Pennsylvania State University is seeking candidates for the position of Chancellor and Dean of Penn State Altoona.

The Chancellor serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Dean of the College and is responsible for the quality of academic programs in teaching, research, and service, including the promotion and tenure process; strategic planning; budgeting; enrollment management, philanthropy; faculty and staff development; outreach; and alumni and community relations. The Chancellor and Dean reports to the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses and Executive Chancellor.

The position requires an individual who can lead a campus that is part of a twenty-four campus, student-centered, comprehensive research university. In addition to providing academic and administrative leadership to the College, the Chancellor and Dean is a key executive of the University and serves as a member of the Academic Leadership Council and Council of Campus Chancellors.

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader with an entrepreneurial outlook who is able to take charge of an effective and thriving campus, and is capable of providing leadership for higher education in the region. Demonstrated success in fundraising is essential. A minimum of five years of experience in higher education administration in a comprehensive, predominately undergraduate baccalaureate institution with responsibility for strategic oversight of personnel, planning, programs, communication, and resources is required. The successful candidate will have a commitment to high-quality disciplinary and interdisciplinary education, as well as diversity and inclusion. Qualified candidates will have a terminal degree and the aptitude and willingness to lead significant fundraising efforts. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Penn State Altoona is an undergraduate college of Penn State, the land-grant University of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania serving over 90,000 students. The College enrolls approximately 2,700 students and offers over twenty-five degrees and nineteen minor options. The College also offers the first two years of study leading to more than 275 baccalaureate majors available throughout Penn State. All programs at Penn State Altoona fall into one of four Academic Divisions: Arts and Humanities; Business, Engineering, and Information Sciences and Technology; Education, Human Development, and Social Sciences; and Mathematics and Natural Sciences. There are 187 full-time and 76 part-time faculty.

Located in beautiful central Pennsylvania, Penn State Altoona serves a growing and vibrant region. The 171.5-acre Ivyside campus includes a number of academic buildings, residence halls, an athletic complex and fields, and reflection pond. The dynamic Downtown campus features labs for rail transportation engineering, IST programs, and nursing, along with a communications suite, an entrepreneurship center, and classrooms and offices supporting a variety of programs and departments. This campus is located only 40 miles from the University Park campus, allowing for wonderful opportunities for academic collaborations, and is within a two to four-hour drive of several major metro areas, including Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Baltimore.
