Analytical Chemistry – Tenure-Track Assistant Professor

The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science at the University of Waterloo invites applications from outstanding scholars and researchers for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in any area of Analytical Chemistry with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2023. In exceptional cases, an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor will be considered.

Creative scientists with a strong commitment to excellence in research, teaching and service are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have outstanding training and demonstrated excellence in chemistry or a closely related discipline. A PhD in Chemistry or an equivalent discipline, as well as postdoctoral experience, is required.

The successful candidate is expected to establish a strong, independent research group including supervision and mentoring of graduate students, and be able to develop collaborations with researchers in the Department of Chemistry and other departments and research centres at Waterloo and internationally. Our interdisciplinary and collaborative department includes 41 faculty, and active, innovative programs shared with other departments in the Faculties of Science, Mathematics, Health and Engineering, as well as other universities around the world. Our faculty are key members of interdisciplinary research centres such as the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology, the Water Institute, the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change, and the Centre for Bioengineering & Biotechnology.

The successful candidate will also have a record of outstanding teaching, or will be able to provide evidence of potential to develop and deliver introductory and advanced courses in any area of analytical chemistry in the chemistry programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The salary range of this position at the Assistant Professor rank is $105,000 to $125,000 per year. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2023.
