XE is a stand-alone, student-centered master’s program that fosters the combination of creativity and criticality with a keen interest in social engagement of various forms. We seek outstanding interdisciplinary scholars whose work may not neatly align with traditional disciplines, who are committed to exploring new pedagogies, to program building and curricular innovation, and to contributing to the intellectual and creative cultures of a tightly-knit community of experimental scholars and practitioners. The successful candidate will be working at the cutting edge of interdisciplinary and intersectional inquiry, which may include, span, or exceed the fields of: social and environmental justice, science and technology studies, art and activism, urban studies, displacement and migration, indigenous rights, decolonization, incarceration, global critical theory, sound studies, and visual culture.

Candidates must be committed to interdisciplinarity in scholarship and practice, as well as excellence in teaching. Faculty fellows teach three graduate seminars per year, advise and mentor students, oversee master’s theses, organize public programs, and actively participate in shaping the life of the program.

Qualifications:
While PhDs are required, we welcome candidates who are also practicing artists or have another public-facing critical practice in their field/s. Candidates should have completed their Ph.D. no earlier than 2019 and no later than by August 1, 2023.
