Position Summary
Assistant Professor - Tenure Track
Social Work
Department of Criminal Justice, Social Work, and Sociology
College of Humanities and Social Sciences
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses of 12 hours per semester as assigned
- Conduct research in area(s) of expertise
- Support departmental and university service
- Provide academic advising of students
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. or ABD (with Ph.D. by January 1, 2023) in Social Work or directly related field with a Master's in Social Work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program (Degrees must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university.)
- Minimum of two years full-time post-MSW social work direct practice experience
- Experience and/or knowledge in teaching at the college/university level as a graduate assistant, instructor, or above
- Preparation for and interest in teaching across the undergraduate social work curriculum; interest in teaching research, human behavior/theory, and macro practice is desired but not required
- Demonstrated ability to engage in research with potential for external funding; an interest in gerontology/issues related to older adults is desired but not required
- Demonstrated commitment to work with students, staff, and community (e.g., advising, organizations, training, boards, leadership)
- Commitment to and evidence of collegiality when interacting with others within the university community
- Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multicultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
