Senior Applications Analyst

 

George Mason University’s Information Technology Services (ITS), is seeking a detail-orientated, self-starter to serve as a Senior Applications Analyst on the Banner Administrative Applications team. This is a full-time classified staff position with benefits. This position offers a remote or hybrid work schedule (a few days in the office with the remaining days teleworking).

Responsibilities:

The Senior Applications Analyst will provide primary technical support to George Mason University’s Ellucian Banner ERP system administrative applications that support the mission-critical business functions of the University. Act as key player in all aspects of Banner Administrative Application operations and development. Review new requests from users and provide solutions that meet our strategic goals. Support users in diagnosing and resolving production problems with software. Provide custom application and integration support using advanced programming techniques and tools (Groovy/Grails, JAVA, Perl, Unix Shell scripting, XML, secure data transfer, Web Services, automated file sharing and web programming).

 

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or higher degree in computer science or related field; or equivalent combination of educational and work experience;
  • Thorough knowledge of life cycle methodology, analysis and design techniques and languages used by applications: PL/SQL, Pro*C, Unix shell scripting, Oracle forms;
  • Experience with Java programming;
  • Experience with Groovy/Grails;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of XML;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Web Services;
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze technical issues and problems effectively;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the University’s IT management, Administrative Managers and others;
  • Demonstrated, effective organizational and problem-solving abilities; and
  • Ability to effectively juggle multiple projects and shifting priorities.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Ellucian Banner 9 or greater;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Banner Extensibility; and
  • Experience with advanced scripting language (PERL).

 

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
