Assistant Technical Director

12 Month Hourly Staff FT

SCAD Savannah seeks a knowledgeable assistant technical director of production design to join its team. In this role, you will supervise the maintenance of the Crites scene shop; Hamilton Hall studios A, B, and C; the storage space at the Diamond building, and the Mondanaro Theater.

As an assistant technical director of production design, you will assist with the management, scheduling, and supervision of performing arts and production design practicum students, as well as departmental work-study students. You will serve as a liaison between practicum students and the technical director, draw and interpret blueprints for entertainment arts construction, and maintain all inventory for construction materials, tools, and hardware. Among other duties, you will also participate in and supervise students on the construction and installation for productions (e.g., welding, carpentry, electrical work, prop construction, etc.) in accordance with SCAD and OSHA safety regulations.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in performing arts technology, or equivalent professional experience. CAD drawing, carpentry, welding, construction techniques for the performing arts, painting, and rigging experience desired.

Certificates, licenses and registrations: Must have a Class C Georgia drivers license. Ability to drive a 16' and 24' box truck. Employee would on average have to drive greater than 5 hours a week

Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
