Professor of Writing

SCAD seeks a full-time professor of writing with a specialty in contemporary journalism and writing for new media to join its faculty in historic Savannah, Ga.

Students in the SCAD writing program learn effective communication as they explore every avenue of the writing profession through a comprehensive and contemporary curriculum. As students journey into the vibrant world of multimedia publishing, you will help guide them so that their creative visions flourish and they achieve their professional goals. You will teach in-person and online classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The ideal candidate employs their student-centered teaching philosophy to motivate students of diverse backgrounds to think creatively and critically. The candidate should also demonstrate professional experience and proficiency with business communication and practices across all platforms, from professional and promotional to public relations and ethics, and more. Unique academic and professional expertise and experience in nonfiction narrative and journalism is preferred (e.g., magazine writing, fashion journalism, writing for digital communication, podcasting, etc.), but not required.

Requirements
- Terminal degree in English, writing, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated professional success in relevant field

Minimum Qualifications:

- Terminal degree in related discipline.
- Teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.
- Experience or knowledge of related industries.
- Ability to be credentialed through SACS guidelines or justified to teach.

Work Hours:As noted in the Employment Agreement.
