Working closely with the Assistant Faculty Director and the Director for Online Educational Initiatives, this person will ensure that program processes and components support student success and degree impact in a sustainable, high-quality way.

The Associate Program Director for the Master of Health Care Innovation (MHCI) leads the strategies for admissions, student support, co-curricular activities, and alumni engagement for a high-touch, cohort-based online degree. Working closely with the Assistant Faculty Director and the Director for Online Educational Initiatives, this person will ensure that program processes and components support student success and degree impact in a sustainable, high-quality way.

The two primary responsibilities are 1) leading the admission process, working closely with the Admissions Committee members to insure the applicants who are accepted can fulfill the rigorous academic standards required by the program, and 2) providing academic coaching/advising to matriculating students in conjunction with the Assistant Faculty Director and manage students' degree progress and graduation. In addition, this person will lead planning for events that are critical to the program to supplement the curriculum and address program competencies.

As background, the MHCI is Penn's first fully online Master's degree and focuses on forging a diverse network of innovative thinkers and leaders passionate about improving health care. Faculty-drawn from across Penn-are leading experts in health policy, operations management, behavioral economics, innovation methodologies, health equity, and leadership. Students apply their MHCI experience immediately in their work as clinicians, executives, directors, researchers, entrepreneurs, consultants, and more.

Key competencies for the successful candidate include attention to detail; clear written and verbal communication; empathy; entrepreneurial mindset; event planning, including budget management, negotiation, and contracts; networking and connecting people; and problem-solving.

The program is based in the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy (MEHP) in the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM). We are profoundly committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and are seeking candidates who support and foster this commitment.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or comparable work-related experience.

Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in academic administration within higher education, preferably for an online graduate degree program for health care professionals.

Demonstrated ability to:
  • Identify needs and develop strategies for students and degree impact.
  • Contribute solutions, measure results and iterate with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Lead virtual and in-person event-planning and team participation.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines whether working independently or collaboratively.
  • Track detail.
  • Represent a high quality graduate program as an even-keeled empathetic and respectful resource through both spoken and written interactions with internal and external constituents.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
