Job Description Summary
The Associate Director C supports program execution for two of Venture Lab's key pathways - Explorers and Investors. This position is critical to Venture Lab's mission to expand access to entrepreneurial and innovation resources to the wider Penn student community across multiple entrepreneurial dimensions.

The Investor Pathway programming is for students interested in early stage investing as an entrepreneurial career path. The Associate Director will manage the Investor Pathway workshop series, educating students on a variety of topics including venture capital, entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA), and search funds. The role will also include organizing the Penn Wharton Innovation Fund application and award processes and educational sessions. The Associate Director will manage the application process for the Perlman Fellowships, support instructors of new ETA academic class, manage ETA speaker events, seminars, and workshops, and provide organizational support for student treks under Venture Lab's ETA program. The role will be the main point of contact for related student clubs and career offices at Penn.

The Explorers Pathway programming provides an on-ramp for students newly interested in entrepreneurship, and Visiting Experts is a key program in the Explorers' portfolio. The Associate Director manages the planning and execution of the Venture Lab Visiting Experts program, including direct responsibility for identifying, scheduling, and communicating with experts, liaising with External Affairs/DAR, managing registration, marketing, preparing materials, supervising virtual meetings, communicating with student participants, and following up with experts. The role also involves managing the software platform used for scheduling Visiting Experts and Start Here Mondays appointments, building out the SHM program, and overseeing the program coordinator when that individual is providing on-site support for Visiting Experts.

The Associate Director is responsible for collecting KPIs and data related to the programs in the Investors and Explorers' portfolios, including preparing data for Venture Lab's advisory board meetings, senior leadership's presentations, and External Affairs communications. The role is also responsible for ensuring the data for the Investors and Explorers programs is accurate and up to date in Venture Lab's CRM database (Salesforce).

As part of this role, the Associate Director will provide direct support to the Director for Exploration and Investor Programs, including for any new or expanded programs under those pathways' portfolios. Additionally, the role may involve supervising student workers and/or guiding Coordinators' work, per the Director's request.

The position requires frequent interaction with seasoned, accomplished alumni entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and other professionals engaged in entrepreneurship and innovation careers, including significant donors. The position requires a high level of judgment and professionalism in cultivating relationships with alumni, including donor stewardship. While schedule is generally business hours, ability to work early mornings/evenings/weekends and to occasionally travel is needed. This position is located in Philadelphia on Penn's campus. After successful completion of the introductory period, this position is hybrid eligible with some weeks requiring more in-person work as needed. Position is contingent on funding.

Job Description


- Bachelor's Degree and to 5-7 years of professional experience related to entrepreneurship, early-stage investing, innovation, and/or higher education
- Demonstrated track record of leadership ability and innovative thinking, with ability to create and launch new program offerings
- Demonstrated interest in learning and developing skillset and network in the areas of entrepreneurship, early-stage investing, and innovation
- Ability to interact effectively and comfortably with diverse group of students, senior executives/professionals, and staff with demonstrated ability to cultivate and manage relationships professionally and with good judgment with a variety of stakeholders
- Experience managing budgets, forecasting and tracking expenses, and maintaining a declining balance over a fiscal year
- Demonstrated ability to function both independently and as part of a team
- Must be organized and detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high degree of professionalism.
- Must possess skill in Google software applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides) as well as the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook). Familiarity with survey tools and managing KPI data preferred.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
