The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Board certification in Anatomic Pathology and/or Clinical Pathology from the American Board of Pathology as well as certification/eligibility in Hematopathology and eligible/licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and New Jersey is required.

Teaching responsibilities may include the teaching of medical students, pathology residents, fellows and technologists, and scholarly activities and demonstrate outstanding qualifications in clinical care education and/or collaborative research.

Clinical responsibilities may include attending on the hematopathology service, working with related laboratories such as molecular diagnostics and flow cytometry on assay development. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine has made major investments in next generation sequencing-based molecular diagnostics and flow cytometry. The ideal candidate will have relevant training, clinical and administrative experience (prior demonstrated leadership role) in the field of Hematopathology, with additional interests or expertise in molecular pathology and/or genomics and advanced flow cytometry.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include a demonstrated track record in scholarly activity and ability to further develop a strong, collaborative research program. Advances in immune profiling in collaboration with Abramson Cancer Center and Institute for Immunology are in development to power flow cytometry into new clinical applications with unique translational development opportunities. The Perelman School of Medicine is known for its emphasis on translational research and the candidate will be expected to have a demonstrated track record in scholarly activity and ability to further develop a strong, collaborative research program.

Administrative responsibilities will include system-level leadership across our 6 entities. The primary practice location is the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Rank is commensurate with experience.
