Job Description Summary
The Researcher is an appointment under the Wharton Research Data Services, University of Pennsylvania. The Researchers are under the supervision of a senior director with similar qualifications to a regular faculty member to conduct the research project. The Researchers are responsible for assisting the research director in various non-administrative tasks, including implementing algorithms, preparing materials for the research, documenting results, etc., in support of the research activities. Research projects should ideally be related to the student's area of study. The research project is intended to provide the opportunity to learn proper research procedures and techniques. The supervising director is responsible for providing ongoing feedback and a formal assessment at the conclusion of the assistantship.

Typical Duties: The Research principal (senior director) determines the research goals to assist in preparation for and achievement of the research goals, which may include the following or other duties specific to the research objectives:
  • Researches and collects data through complex techniques and procedures, library research, structured interviews, or other project-specific methodology.
  • Interprets, synthesizes, and analyzes data.
  • Schedules, organizes, and reports on the status of research activities.
  • Annotates human linguistic contents
  • Writes and edits materials for publication and presentation.
  • Meets with the senior director regularly to maintain ongoing communication regarding the quality of the assistant's performance.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

    Current enrolment in the undergraduate or graduate studies programs in US Universities with experiences and rights in the subject matter of the research project in question

    Skills/Abilities

    Subject knowledge and oral/written communication skills to discuss and document research progress.
    • Ability to work independently and accurately
    • solve technical and methodological challenges
    • Ability to develop the programs or conduct linguistic analysis in a business context
    • Strong organization and interpersonal skills
