Job Description Summary
Coordinate the conduct of clinical trials sponsored by the Maternal Fetal Medicine Research Program at the University of Pennsylvania or Industry sponsors. Manage unit related projects, including but not limited to the coordination of clinical trials, submission of study documents to all applicable institutional committees (e.g. IRB) forinitial approval, continuing reviews and for approval of any amendments, obtaining consent, screening and enrollment of study participants, scheduling study related visits, completion of source documents and case report forms (CRFs), reporting of non-serious and serious adverse events, maintenance of regulatory files, and preparation for monitoring visits and audits. Act in lead capacity in coordination of unit projects and will assist Director in overseeing execution of project timelines, completion of study related activities that are delegated to research coordinators/assistants who provide study related support. Monitor and interpret fetal non-stress tests that occur in the context of the clinical research setting and provide assessment to clinical care providers. Monitor the care and progress of patients, the treatment of any side effects and status of patients throughout their participation in the study, in addition to providing patient/family education and support. Form collaborations with clinical staff as well as other departments involved in the operations of trials. Provide input into the development of efficient work flows and attend any meetings related to the studies. Develop and institute internal strategies for meeting and exceeding trial enrollment and assure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards. Work with study investigators and/or their designees, as well as the Mixed Methods Research Laboratory, to be trained to execute and support qualitative research such as focus groups and semi-structured interviews.Collaborate with Innovation Managers from the Penn Center for Healthcare Innovation to support research projects in the innovation space.

The Clinical Research nurse will independently coordinate, with the support of the study team, state of the art clinical trials, including consenting, screening and enrolling eligible subjects, managing the treatment of patients throughout their participation in the study including education about any adverse effects they might experience, provide oversight and coordination of research testing and follow-up. Monitor patients undergoing remote fetal non-stress tests, provide technical and clinical support to those patients and assess the outcome of aforementioned stress test. Monitor the care and progress of patients, the treatment of any side effects and status of patients throughout their participation in the study, in addition to providing patient/family education and support. Provide input into the development of efficient work flows and attend any meetings related to the studies. Develop and institute internal strategies for meeting and exceeding trial enrollment, and assure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards. Work in collaboration with the clinical staff as well as other departments involved in research operations.The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to:--Coordinate clinical trials, including consenting, screening and enrolling eligible subjects, managing patient treatment throughout participation in the study including education about any adverse effects they might experience, --Provide oversight and coordinate research testing and follow-up.--Monitor the remote neonatal stress testing of patients and provide assessment of said testing, relay that to clinical care providers--Monitor care and progress of patients and anyside effects;provide patient/family education and support.--Provide input into the development of efficient work flows and attend study meetings. --Develop and institute strategies for meeting and exceeding trial enrollment, and assure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards. --Work with the clinical staff on scheduling, other operations. --Work with Mixed Methods Research Laboratory and/or other resources to be trained to conduct qualitative research, including semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and transcript coding.--Collaborate with Innovation Managers from the PennCenter for Healthcare Innovation on study operations.

The job pay range encompasses the full range of employees from new hires to the salaries of Penn employees with many years of experience and seniority and is not a precise indicator of salaries of new hires when looking at the top end. Based on what we pay employees coming into the position of Clinical Research Nurse Dour pay range is $95,065-104,809 based on education and experience above the minimum qualifications.

Qualifications:

Clinical Research Nurse D:

Registered Nurse; licensure in Commonwealth of PA without restriction or limitation and 4 to 5 years of experience; BSN preferred

Position requires an individual with excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate should possess the ability to work independently and also as part of a team. Strong planning, organizational and prioritizing capabilities along with problem solving skills desired. Must be able to work flexible hours. Previous research experience and knowledge of IRB processes, human research protection regulations, and regulatory management preferred, but not required. Background in in Obstetrics & Gynecology, specifically experience with pregnancy care and fetal non-stress testing is required.
