ABOUT UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS

Undergraduate Admissions supports outreach and recruitment strategy, admission policy and processes, and yield initiatives for domestic and international first-year, transfer, adult and non-degree students enrolling on the Athens campus and in OHIO Online programs. The Undergraduate Admissions team is comprised of more than 50 full-time staff members, including a talented recruitment team based in Athens, as well as a growing team of strategically positioned staff members in key markets throughout the U.S. and around the world. Undergraduate Admissions supports colleges, schools, and departments in the pursuit of academically specific recruitment and admission goals.

LEADERSHIP PROFILE & POSITION SUMMARY

Position Summary: The Assistant Director for International Admission coordinates the admission and enrollment process for undergraduate international applicants to Ohio University. Under the direction of the Associate Director for International Admissions, the Assistant Director works alongside colleagues in Undergraduate Admissions to convert international students through the stages of enrollment, including lead generation, inquiry fulfillment, international credential evaluation and the review of applications for admission. This position will also travel for recruitment purposes during key times of the year.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

International Applications: The Assistant Director for International Admissions serves as an expert in international educational systems. Authenticates and evaluates international credentials and executes the review of international student applications for undergraduate admissions. Coordinates the creation and maintenance of student and external institution records. Creates documentation and provides training within the department to allow for consistent, equitable and timely admission decisions for applicants. Counsels, advises and recommends to office leadership on the applicability of international educational systems by interpreting and applying rules and regulations to formulate best practices. Conducts training and review of staff on policies and procedures related to educational systems abroad.

Collaborates with colleagues in Undergraduate Admissions to review applications for admission, including specific requirements unique to the international student population, such as evidence of availability of funds necessary for issuance of immigration documents and proficiency of English language.

Recruitment: The Assistant Director for International Admissions serves as member of the recruitment team in Undergraduate Admissions with expertise in the international market. Manages the conversion of inquiries through a student lifecycle and to the point of enrollment. Provides excellent customer service, diplomacy and tact when assisting students. Exhibits effectiveness in handling complex issues related to applications for admission.

Represents the University both on- and off-campus to a wide variety of constituents, including prospective students and their families, secondary and postsecondary school personnel, community-based organizations, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process both domestically and abroad. Supports Undergraduate Admissions efforts in recruiting and yielding diverse student groups, including transfer students to the Athens and eCampus.

The Assistant Director for International Admissions uses knowledge of international educational landscape to inform recruitment and enrollment goals in consultation with leadership team. Develops data-driven strategies to research and identify emerging markets. Plans and executes effective international travel, utilizing creative and innovative approaches to leverage all available resources. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree conferred by start date.
Minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
Must have the ability to travel independently overnight.
Unrestricted and/or renewable legal authorization to travel internationally to and from the United States.

Pay Rate: Based on extensive benchmarking data, the Assistant Director for International Admissions position is mapped to Pay Grade CA&P 15 at OHIO, with a target hiring range of $40,296-$45,837. The exact base salary for the selected candidate will be negotiable, commensurate with education and experience, and competitive in the field within the context of similarly situated positions at public universities nationally.

Work Schedule

OHIO and Enrollment Management proudly offers flextime in addition to flexplace, in support of our employees. While this position does require working on-campus, there is some opportunity for periodic remote workdays. Such arrangements will be negotiated at time of offer.
