The Opportunity

The College of Sciences at North Carolina State University seeks a dynamic and creative leader to be our new Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will work with us to create, develop, implement, and assess student and educational experiences that enhance human interaction, integrate innovative technologies, and provide practical experiences that connect our students to the world around us. This position offers the opportunity to enhance the science and mathematics success of all students within one of our nation’s greatest public universities.

About the Department

The College of Sciences at NC State comprises six academic departments that provide science and mathematics majors, minors and courses for NC State’s 35,000 students. Within the College, the Office of Academic Affairs is an administrative unit with primary responsibility for ensuring the success of a diverse and highly qualified undergraduate student population. The Office oversees all activities related to college recruitment, enrollment, retention, advising, academic programming, student leadership development, scholarships, outreach, and engagement.

The Position

The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is a key member of the Dean’s Senior Leadership team and oversees the Office of Academic Affairs, including all units and individuals that report through it. The position is responsible for administrative, budgetary, and personnel matters.

The position requires a Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree.
