Job Description Summary
The Clinical and Translational Research Program for Lymphomas and Other Related Diseases ("Program") at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania seeks a Research Assistant to provide support to faculty and staff by performing a variety of research-related tasks.

Job Description

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist with consenting, enrolling and coordination of unfunded research projects (e.g., ancillary, biospecimen, correlative, retrospective, prospective, etc.)
  • Assist in the maintenance of complete, accurate, and well-organized study files (e.g., paper and electronic subject or study charts, case report forms, enrollment logs, etc.) from enrollment through follow-up.
  • Coordinate, receive and transport biological specimens (e.g., blood, urine, tissue, etc.); maintain central lab supplies, kits, and equipment (e.g., EKG machines, ePRO tablets, etc.).
  • Document medical visits (i.e., scribe) as they are being performed by a Clinician-investigator, including but not limited to: medical history, physical exam, procedures, treatments, patient education, follow-up instructions, preparation of referral letters, and correspondence with other medical professionals
  • Assist with new and returning patient note preparation, including but not limited to: reproduction and/or reformatting of all pathology reports and radiology reports; creating or updating a history of present illness ("HPI") or a timeline of events which would include review and summary of all key interim laboratory and radiology reports and interim clinical events or visits with other physicians; formatting of all applicable reports and events for the clinical note for the physician's review prior to patient visits.
  • Support the Medical Director (or his/her delegate) by assisting with general administrative tasks (e.g., coordinating signatures, filing of documentation, emailing, photocopying, scanning, scheduling, resolving conflicts in schedule, recording and distribution of meeting minutes, etc.)
  • Other duties as reasonably assigned.


Assigned duties will be performed with oversight from senior staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Qualifications should clearly indicate those that are required and those that are preferred.)

Bachelor's Degree and 0-1 year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be responsible, organized, friendly, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications, e.g. Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Must be available to work a minimum of 12-15 hours per week during regular business hours.
