Assistant Director of Financial Aid Advising (up to 2 openings)

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid Advising positions are part of the Client Services team supporting outreach to students and mass communications. Both positions will provide direct advising to prospective and current students and families by appointment, walk-in, phone, and email. Advising includes details regarding types and terms of financial aid, affordability and costs, loan repayment, Satisfactory Academic Progress, and financial literacy. Resolves federal financial aid overawards, manages aid revisions, and tracks eligibility for various types of aid.

Will assist with preparing materials for recruitment and yield events, and serve as the primary financial aid advisor serving orientation programs. This position assists with special circumstances processing and administrative process overflow. The position reviews various financial aid reports and makes PeopleSoft updates accordingly. Initiates, coordinates and tracks special circumstances reviews, specifically Dependency Appeals and professional judgment appeals. Assists with Change of Income processing and scholarship appeals. Serves as primary advisor for orientation programs and provides advising assistance for other recruitment and yield events. Coordinates resource fair materials and staffing with Assistant Director for Outreach. Evaluates progress on regular administrative reports such as overawards, summer aid requests, campus changes, and ad hoc reports. Tracks for completion and assures work is completed in a timely manner. Serves as administrative lead for reports, seeking assistance from colleagues as needed.

Serves as a back-up to our Administrative Services Associate in lobby coverage and monitors in-person traffic. This position monitors phone volume and plans for staff coverage, as needed, in addition to regularly answering calls. They are responsible for planning on-call and phone coverage schedules, as well as determining, daily, additional coverage support based on staffing. Monitors financial aid email inbox to assure timely and accurate responses. The position processes various financial aid reports and makes PeopleSoft updates accordingly. Provides in-person advising to students and families during high volume times. Serves as backup for Administrative Services Associate during lunch and break times.Process quality control reports for awarding and disbursement and makes updates in PeopleSoft, as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required by start date.
A minimum of three years of related work experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree
