HireIT Services team provides best-in-class IT service delivery in a matrix environment to more than 1000 clients across a diverse collection of campus organizations. The position will interact daily with clients who have varying levels of technical expertise and provide them with top-tier support and consulting; this requires a combination of sound independent judgment, a professional demeanor, and superior technical ability. The ultimate goal of our IT specialists is to form trusting professional relationships with our clientele.

HireIT supports a mix of MacOS/Windows managed devices for over 1200 clients and 2400 endpoints in a security focused environment. The Endpoint Manager's primary responsibilities are to oversee and facilitate the deployment, security, and maintenance of these endpoints using industry standard tools and practices such as Active Directory, BigFix, JAMF, and ITIL and to directly manage a technical team.

Provides direction for HireIT's Endpoint Support function. Lead and manage a team that contains an Endpoint queue coordinator, BigFix fixlet developers, and computer imaging specialists, as well as all endpoint support services offered by ISC's HireIT Service. Act as an escalation point where difficult or controversial or high priority requests are received.

Work with ISC service providers, external vendors, client representatives from across the campus community, and technical staff to provide technology and security standards for HireIT. Analyze technical needs, document requirements, lead technical projects, and design and deploy technical solutions to meet the needs of HireIT's diverse client base. Reduce complexity and improve accessibility to University technology from our clients' perspective. Consult as subject matter expert for ISC and campus wide initiatives.

Lead patch/vulnerability management efforts. Define standards for Windows and Mac deployment, configuration, and management. Provide recommendations ensure the security of the workstation environment.

Translate deeply technical concepts to clients and act as a liaison between clients and ISC in support of implementing client solutions and problem-solving client issues. Maintain expert knowledge of Penn's supported information systems, products and services; evaluate and test technologies to assess their ability to meet client needs and to ensure compatibility within Penn's environment; track industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in industry and at other institutions to advise on strategic directions for IT services.

Prepare HireIT clients and staff to implement and use future technologies by curating a technology roadmap for the department.

Job Description

  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing and leading technical staff.
  • Experience providing advanced technical support for Macintosh and Windows operating systems, preferably in an academic computing or professional services environment.
  • Experience with desktop management including image creation and deployment, endpoint management tools (BigFix and Jamf preferred), and patch management
  • Experience managing and providing technical support for O365, Sharepoint, ARS, Cloud Services, and security best practices.
  • Experience managing and leading technical projects.
  • Ability to translate deeply technical concepts to clients and represent their needs to technical teams
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with the ability to lead and coordinate team efforts as needed.
  • Ability to thrive in a client-centric, technically-focused environment.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing and variable work environment.
  • Ability and commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive materials.
