Assistant Professor - Biochemistry
Summary of Position
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in biochemistry at the assistant professor level, starting in August 2018. A PhD and postdoctoral experience are required. The successful candidate is expected to develop excellence in teaching biochemistry at the undergraduate level (lecture and laboratory), advanced biochemistry at the graduate level, and introductory undergraduate organic chemistry. The successful candidate is also expected to maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program involving undergraduate and Master’s students. The Department is well equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, which includes a 600 MHz NMR spectrometer, LC/MSn and HR-LC/MS managed by a full-time PhD scientist, as well as spectrofluorometers, a CD spectrometer, and calorimetry equipment (DSC and ITC).
Minimum Requirements
A PhD and Post-doctoral experience in Chemistry, biochemistry or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in biochemistry and advanced instrumentation associated with biochemistry research.

Chemistry & Biochemistry at UNCW offers exciting, student oriented programs that award Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS,ACS Certified) and Master of Science (MS) degrees. A significant portion of the training takes place in our laboratories, both those associated with courses, and those involving research in Marine and Atmospheric Science, Biochemistry, Organic and Inorganic Synthesis, Computational and Physical Chemistry and Chemical Education, all of which incorporate our state of the are instrumentation (http://www.uncw.edu/chem/ ). In addition to rigorous courses in all aspects of chemistry, most of our undergraduate students and all of our local graduate students carry out research under the direct supervision of our outstanding faculty.
