Responsibilities: Must be able to teach in the credential programs in a variety of areas including strategies, methods, and assessment courses as well as supervise candidates during their field experiences. Other related duties include advising, committee work, a program of scholarship, and service to the profession and the community. A portion of the workload will be allotted to the following tasks for the Liberal Studies program: 1) Administer the curriculum and academic program requirements consistent with the policies and procedures established for the university, the school, and the department / program, including the implementation of an ongoing systematic assessment of student learning goals and objectives for the program and the systematic use of the assessment data for continual program improvement. 2) Create and maintain a supportive and collegial environment that encourages effective and innovative teaching, helpful academic and career advising, and productive faculty and student research and scholarship. Be an "advocate" and "mentor" for the faculty, staff, and students. 3) Be responsible for all official business involving the Liberal Studies program, and meet all deadlines (e.g., budget allocations, personnel evaluations, course scheduling, etc.) established by the School Dean and/or Provost. 4) Administer the allocated operational and personnel budgets efficiently and effectively, including meeting assigned targets for full-time-equivalent-student (FTES) enrollments and student-faculty-ratios (SFR). 5) Work cooperatively and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the administration in achieving department, school, and university goals, with special attention to community engagement and partnerships through outreach activities, service learning, cooperative education, field placements and internships, applied research, in-service training, and professionally-related services. 6) Work effectively and sensitively with a student population that is culturally-, economically-, and socially diverse, including the dominant characteristic of "first-generation college attendance." 7) Establish and strengthen collaborative relations with other CSUB academic departments, local community colleges, and local agencies. Use these collaborative relations to facilitate extramural funding to support faculty and student research and scholarship. The normal teaching assignment includes teaching, scholarly activity, service, advising, and campus committee assignments.

Qualifications: 1) Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education or related field from an accredited institution (A.B.D. candidates may apply). 2) Minimum of three years of public school teaching in school settings with culturally and linguistically diverse populations and students with special needs; 3) Strong potential for educational research; 4) Record must also document administrative experience in working collaboratively and effectively with faculty, staff, university administrators, community agency directors and managers, and local government leaders. 5) Other preferred qualifications include the following: successful university level teaching and supervision experiences in clinical practice; an established record of research and scholarly activities in the area of teacher education; and experience with instructional technology.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
